LO1: Photographic Elements

Composition

The composition of a photograph is the way in which a photographer arranges things within their shoot to meet their required needs. I have been looking at the still life photography of Vladimir Shipulin, I have noticed the way in which he uses composition during his photography to almost create a visual effect within the photo itself. I believe that in terms of composition he tires to place objects behind or within other objects to create a feeling of

Format

Format is the orientation of a portrait or landscape piece of photography. In terms of the format of photography I have chosen to look at the work of Alyssia Monks, this is due to the race that she tends to use a various amount of different photographic elements in terms of format. In the photograph I have chosen to use you can that Alyssia Monks has chosen to orientate the format features between portrait and landscape

Centre Of Interest

In photography one of the main features a photographer tries to capture is the centre of interest, I am currently looking at the photographic work of Jim Kazanjian. He a photographer who specialises in the art of surreal fantasy landscape photography, looking at my recent photograph of his work you can see that his centre of interest is the house/castle on wheels surrounded by a barren wasteland. the reason he might have done this was to connect to the viewers by having them feel fascinated by just looking at his photograph.

Viewpoint

Viewpoint photography is photography taken from either above or below eye level, this style of photography is commonly used to show an environment or in some circumstances it can show the dominance of a person within a picture by having the camera at an angle.

Framing

Framing photography is the style of photography taken using a frame to capture a point of interest for the photograph. This is also a really easy means of creating a photograph, the main focus when using this style of photography is to focus on the positioning and perspective that the viewer is having of the image.

Rule Of Thirds

Rule of thirds refers to the guidelines which applies to the composition of a picture. This shows the different sections within a picture with the sections that make up the main focal point.

Colour/Monochrome

Monochrome  describes either a painting, drawing or maybe even a photograph. An image that reflects colours in different shades with limited colour, this is usually done by removing the hues within the picture.

LO1: Rules Of Photography Tester Shots

During the tester shots, I got to explore different camera elements and features of photography. Looking at the shots I took you can see that the most common feature I looked into was the method of leading lines, texture shots and establishing shots of the city.

Where

The location I will be having my photo-shoot at is within the UTC premises. The places I have decided to do this shoot at within the building.
When

I will probably be doing on a Tuesday, this is because my timetable is free during this time and I will be able to concentrate fully on the shoot without having any distractions as the day progresses.

Timings Of Shoot
This shoot should roughly take me around an hour to produce, due to the fact that I want to create a perfect sports photography shoot of my model playing basketball.

Use of space? Complete a recce

How does it fit into the brief?

This fits into the brief due to the fact that my model is showing a part of his identity through playing basketball, I'm going to set it out so you can see a various amount of different facial features to express my models mood so the view gets a sense of what his personality is like while he plays basketball.

Theme?
The of my shoot is the identity of how sport makes an individual feel, this is basically me find out what emotions I can capture during a shoot.
Meanings you wish to communicate?

I will be communicating with my models through text message rather than email, because it's a lot faster.
